My Personal Learning Network

It is a fascinating and exciting time to be a teacher in this age of technology.  Due to the proliferation of so many Web 2.0 sites, I now have the ability to connect with teachers all over the United States and the world.  I can learn from and interact with them in a number of ways:

My blog roll

I subscribe to a variety of educational blogs - from teachers to administrators to educational technologists to  educational consultants.  Because I am a Business Education teacher, I also subscribe to financial, marketing, and technology blogs.  Following is a list of the blogs that I currently subscribe to.

Social Bookmarking

For social bookmarking, I use the website Diigo. You can see what I have recently saved, what my tag bundles are, and search through my saved links.  I also have other educators people in my network.

One of the reasons why I believe that Web 2.0 sites will revolutionize teaching is through the use of social bookmarking.  I can read what other educators feel is important enough to save themselves.  It is also a tremendous place to find all types of resources.  The ability to highlight and add sticky notes to web pages allows for further discussion and learning.  It allows me to work smarter, not harder.

Micro-blogging

For all of my micro-blogging needs, I use Twitter. I am currently following 682 people, have 367 people following me, and have been listed 23 times

My Blog

Right before I started student teaching, I set up a blog to be able to reflect on my teaching experiences.  I have continued to chronicle my thoughts on all things education, with an emphasis on creating my PLN.  These thoughts can be found here
