Following are some examples of ideas that I would like to incorporate in a class:

Digital Portfolio

There are a variety of reasons why I created this portfolio.  One of those motivations was so that I would gain experience in all that is involved in creating a digital portfolio so that I can pass along that knowledge to my future students.  It is becoming more and more important for future generations of students to create content online.  This will allow them to learn the skills that will be needed for success in the 21st Century, both at work and at play.  The students can use their digital portfolios to show off their talents for college admission and/or to gain employment.

This I Believe

This project has been inspired by the NPR segment This I Believe. This project will be a way for the students to write about their basic belief structure and define their particular beliefs.   In order to ensure that they get to the point, they will be limited to about 500 words.  It is one thing to read the students essay, but it is another thing to hear them read their own essays.  So once they have completed their essays, they will podcast them so that they can be shared digitally.

iMovie

The student will create a list of "I" statements about who they are and why.  Each statement is shown one at a time and is followed by an image that represents that statement.  This allows the students to shape their own image and express themselves through pictures and music.

Local Map Mashup

The students will learn about the history and important locations of their hometown.  On the Google map, they will add a place marker for all of the important points.  On these points, the students can add text to describe the place, and also add pictures, and/or video.  This will create a richer understanding of this town the students come from and generate a greater sense of place.
